1. Thursday, Sept 1, afternoon: Guided visit to Acropolis and surroundings
2. Thursday, Sept 1, evening: Gala dinner at the roof garden of Titania hotel, http://www.titania.gr/2008/, where you will enjoy the Greek cuisine and an unprecedented view of the old city of Athens, accompanied by the sounds of:
(i) Rebettico songs with buzuki and other oriental instruments.
(ii) Songs based on Western European music and Greek poetry.
The organizers will try to provide English translations of this poetry.
3. Saturday, Sept.3, 2011. A cruise to the Saronicos islands: Aegina, Poros, Hydra, Spetses, with discount prices, will be organized.
Taverns and other entertainments in the area of Plaka, at the rock of Acropolis, are easily accessible using the Athens metro (underground).
There are many museums in Athens, like e.g., the Acropolis Museum, the National Archaeological museum, the National Galery, which the DFT participants can visit after the Conference sessions.
Participant can also enjoy the lovely beaches of Attica, some of which are at half an hour from "Democritos", where the conference will take place.
